Important NOTES:
1. There will be some cross-over information included between workbooks because they are based on the author's program. So for example, should you order the Elementary version AND the regular workbook, there will be quite a few duplicated pages. Why? Vocabulary will be similar, so will many introductions. One simplifies for the lower elementary grades, and adds more depth in the higher grades, but vocabulary like Line, Shape, Color, Form, Primary Colors, etc are the same. When in doubt, please see the book's preview and do not hesitate to contact us with questions to select the best book for your situation.
2. Due to shipping issues, we may refund orders for single purchases of student editions when not paired with teacher editions. Shipping single copies can sometimes cost more than the book as we price it low under the assumption most buyers will be getting both. If you don't desire a teacher edition, these books can be paired with almost any other book as well. We just can't honor single student editions at these special/direct prices due to shipping costs.
3. If your intent is to get more than 30 copies for class sets of books, contact us for even lower prices and free teacher editions.

Art Workbooks?
Why on earth would I need that!?! These workbooks are essentially 30+ years of my worksheets, vocab guides, research expectations, critique forms, grading forms, project pre-work, and more. As I near retirement, I realized that others might benefit from these open-ended resources. My approach to Art Education can be found HERE. These books become a portfolio of student work, and I have found them helpful in my daily practice, and even more during the Covid Pandemic. The video here shows you how I explain my Advanced Workbook to my students. |

Updated 2023!
Middle School & High School
This book was originally titled, "The Art Student's Workbook." A simplified version of this book is the "Elementary Art Workbook" and beefed it up to create the "Advanced Art Workbook." This workbook includes enough "content" for 3 years in the typical art classroom. Though marketed to a high school population, it could be used for grades 6 and up. Because this is the root of our workbook series, much of the key information here appears in the other workbooks as well, since basic vocabulary and introductions are similar across grade levels. How you differentiate will be determined by your own population. There are differences, but significant similarities as well. When in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us before making a purchase. VIDEO HERE to look inside.

THIS TEACHER'S EDITION includes enough material for 3 years of 2D and 3D projects. It includes project samples, web links to video resources, independent project pages, vocabulary, worksheets, sample tests, research paper samples, grading rubrics, sketch and note taking pages, short creative five minute writing assignments, and pages for planning, sketching, and writing. This edition also includes clay based projects, critiquing pages, and daily closure statements to meet district observational requirements. It is also a helpful aid in fulfilling State and Federal accommodation requirements (504/ IEP) by providing special needs students additional documented and written material that may be taken home.
Every lesson is designed to be personal and expressive fine art. There are NO "crafty" projects or "cookie-cutter" lessons where everyone has the same outcome. This book stresses a creative problem solving, with an art therapy undertone. Most lesson suggestions may be done in different media to work within tight budgets. |

Student reviews of course:
Maria J. "...the most valuable thing I learned was that art does not have top be perfect or even have to be beautiful. Art is so much more than colors or shapes... It was about expressing who we are inside."
Mikayla M. "I feel like art is about interpretation. I can make it come out the way I like and others will see my spiritual relationship to the work."
Kale'a W. "While taking this art class I found a new passion, a hobby, and possibly a new career path. Some art projects challenged me...pushed me outside my comfort-zone. Thank you."
Amira S. "I used to really love art and I used to paint a lot, then I stopped. After this semester I got back into loving art again. I learned that I am better than I think I am...One of my favorite things about this class is how every project has the opportunity to put something personal into it like my point of view or culture."
Aryanna D. "I have gained more than I thought an art class could offer. I have learned how to transform and express thoughts and feelings that couldn't be told through words... I loved the sense of feeling how what I was completing, in some ways, could be neither right or wrong. "

Designed for students beyond introductory level art classes
This is a re-worked version of "The Art Student's Workbook" so much of the vocabulary and support information (facial proportions, etc) will be the same. What is different is that there are many more schools of art included here, more detailed project ideas organized by historical theme, and worksheets for students to explore independently, yet still be held accountable through documentation. This book is designed for students who have had 2 years of art before and are ready to be more independent but not quite ready for an AP course. It helps prepare students for an AP program should they continue to explore art beyond the introductory level. The teacher's edition includes many differentiated benchmark exams, some of which are also found in the workbook "Art Assessments." Please view the "flip through" and do not hesitate to email us with questions.

This is the teacher's companion edition to the book, "Advanced Art Student's Workbook" and includes 20 benchmark exams for higher level art students. The book also permits the buyer to make copies for their students. This book offers a novel, choice based approach to art education for students who have advanced beyond introductory courses and have expressed an interest in digging deeper into fine art. This fills in the gap between introductory classes, and AP Studio Art.
Students are guided to explore major historical movements from the Byzantine Period through contemporary Pop and Op Art. They gain an understanding of each era's mindset, methods, and themes, to create their own personal works of art inspired by these explorations. The student workbook is meant to be written in and becomes a journal and portfolio of personal exploration and study. Assessments, progress checks, and grading rubrics are contained, as well as supplemental information students will find helpful as they explore perspective, figure proportions, media expectations, and timelines. |

Culturally Connected Crafts Workbook for the Art Educator
Scaffolds, Worksheets, Assessments & Rubrics for Classroom Use Respecting and understanding cultural crafts are really important because they carry deep meanings from the past and help connect us to our history. Getting master cultural crafters to visit our schools is the best way to teach authentically, but that is not always possible. What if we survey our students to see what cultural backgrounds are represented by our population and use that as the basis for our explorations of craft? What if a student with Mexican or South American roots researches the traditions of the Ojo de Dios, shares their discoveries with the class, and then THEY (with the help of the teacher) lead the class through an exploration of this craft tradition? Not only has the student learned more about themselves, but they have been empowered to share them knowledge with their peers, deepening cultural understandings within their community. This workbook will allow you to understand your population, its diversity, and provide you with opportunities to make deeper connections between you and your students, and their peers. It will allow students to explore their own backgrounds and understand the richness of their heritage and appreciate that of their peers in a meaningful and personal way. |
